First foal of 2010 born ....

We're delighted to report that this year's first foal, a lovely strong colt by White Gold B out of Verb Pr Delta B, has arrived safely.

Both are doing well;  Delta is a doting 'mum' and very proud of her new boy.

White Gold B is now being ridden by Grete Linneman, a pony rider who has won the Bundeschampionate and been European Team Gold Medallist. He has just been out with her for his first competition and won.

Another stunning colt for Naturell ....

We're delighted to report that Naturell has produced a super colt by Hemingway B.

With the already noticeable attributes of having a great hind leg in the trot, displaying a steady, balanced canter, and high intelligence (as has his mother!), we are more than pleased with our new boy!

And yet another colt this year for Blackington ....

We're delighted to report that Verb Pr Desiree has produced another lovely colt for us, our second  by  White Gold B.

He looks nicely uphill, has good bone structure and looks as if he will develop a good trot once he works out how to get those legs moving, and straightens a little more!

He has a lovely temperament - usual laid back Dornik x - and doesn't mind we humans sticking needles in him to make sure he's thriving!

White Gold B Reserve for German European Pony Dressage Team ...

We're delighted to hear that White Gold B has been announced reserve for the German European Pony Dressage Team in only his first season in FEI, an amazing achievement and testament to the wonderful breeding qualities of the Bönniger Stud.  We are really thrilled as we have two 2010 colts by him (out of Verb Pr Delta B and Verb Pr Desiree  -see our Youngstock section),  both of whom look to have promising paces for FEI,  great charisma, and their father’s extraordinary good looks! Expressions of interest in either colt invited potentially for sale post-weaning.

Casino Royale's progeny shines at home and abroad ...

In Germany, a son of Casino Royale K  has won the German Foal Championships. Owned by Reinhard Kramer (previous owner of our mare Elite St Pr St Sira), the foal, by Casino out of Mr Kramer's mare St Pr St Sophia by Champus, won with 98.6 points, the highest score ever recorded in the history of the championships.

In England, Casino's son Bathley Hills Monet has been confirmed by the BEF with a First Premium as a yearling. He also recently was a serial winner (8 prizes) at the Palomino Championships, beating off competition from older colts and becoming First Reserve Supreme of Show! Bred by Penny Walster out of a German-bred mare, Mona by Matcho, Blackington Stud is very proud to have had a hand in Penny's achievements, having sourced Mona for her.

Casino now lies first in the stallion rankings with the BEF, following the excellent results of those of his offspring shown at the Futurity Gradings.

Trussardi wins Bronze at Bundeschampionate ...

We're delighted to report that Francesca and Pavarotti came 5th at the Midlands Regional Championships in the Prix St Georges in an extremely hot class full of big names and international combinations! Having warmed up in torrential rain, they had three unfortunate effors which lost them some critical marks, but still came out with some excellent marks. We are very grateful to Spencer wilton for all his amazing help with Pavarotti over the past 18 months.

Grand Design licensed in Hanover ...

Ted (Grand Design) continues his dam Sira's list of successful offspring by being licensed in Hanover.

At 140cm he is likely to be one of the smallest German Riding Ponies licensed this year and is testimony to Francesca's breeding programme. His topline, shape and expressive trot ensured his licensing, in spite of his small stature compared with the other stallions present.

October 2010

Sira in foal to Champion de Luxe ...

We're pleased to report that our mare Elite St Pr St Sira is in foal to FS Champion de Luxe, sire of Casino Royale K. We hope that, after waiting for two years for another foal from her, this one will be even more successful than her Golden Moonlight foal, Grand Design.

Francesca and Pavarotti excel at PSG ...

At a recent competition at Hunters, Francesca and Pavarotti gained 73.15% at Prix St Georges. She and her trainer, Spencer Wilton, are over the moon after a year's hard slog trying to tame Pavarotti's cheeky, but extremely talented, character. They now hope to move up a level to Intermediaire I.

It is thanks to Spencer's hard work and flexible approach that a horse in whom we've always really believed is becoming much more consistent in competition.

Rufus wins British Young Dressage Pony
Championships ...

We are thrilled to report that Francesca and Rufus won the SPSS BD-sponsored British Young Dressage Pony Championships held at Vale View Equestrian Centre on 31 October 2010. They won the 5-year-old class and were overall champions of 4 and 5-year-olds (no 6-year-olds came forward). The class was judged by Chief Team Selector, experienced BD judge and rider Jenny Ward, and Sarah Pidgley, BD judge, sponsor and enthusiast. This was a wonderful boost to the stud, coming after a difficult breeding and trading year, and fully justifies the huge effort and commitment Francesca has put into training Rufus, who was bought as a 3-year-old project.

Rufus is a son of Renoir, sire of Rembrandt, the illustrious Dutch European Team member and European individual medallist now sold to the UK. We are very grateful for the wonderful comments we received from SPSS Committee Members and other supporters present at the competition, and were happy to have made the 2½-hour trip to Vale View, a super venue, to support the competition, which has just been reinstated thanks to the lobbying of the SPSS. It is a fantastic opportunity to benchmark both the type of pony that should be being bred in the UK, alongside the correct production of youngsters intended for dressage.
